Hidden away in tranquil spot yet just 5 mins walk from shops and restaurants of Bonnieux, this quiet, charming property attracts a high number of repeat bookings. In the heart of the Luberon National Park, Bonnieux is one of the most beautiful villages in this fashionable part of the South of France and was made famous by Peter Mayle’s ‘A Year in Provence’. Wide selection of restaurants in the village including the famous ‘Bastide de Capelongue’ with 2 Michelin stars and the excellent ‘Le Fournil’. At the last count there were 7 restaurants within walking distance of the house. Bonnieux also caters well for everyday needs (bakers, butchers, small supermarket, pharmacy, doctor). Bike hire, tennis and a summer programme of cultural activities (theatre, concerts, specialist markets) means that there is always something to do. Traditional market in the village square every Friday. The other famous Luberon villages of Gordes, Ménerbes and Roussillon are all about 15 minutes drive away. Apt, 15 mins drive, for large supermarket and wide range of shops, Isle sur la Sorgue 29km away for golf and weekly antique market. Many famous wine-producing villages are within an hour’s drive including Chateauneuf du Pape and Gigondas. International airports: Avignon 45 km, Marseille 87km, Nîmes 103km.

With magnificent views in all directions, the house is accessed via a long private driveway. A charming house built in a very light and airy traditional Provençal style. Interiors are a tasteful blend of elegant French antiques and contemporary furniture. Spacious landscaped gardens extensively planted with lavender and other native shrubs as well as a host of fruits (figs, apricots, cherries, grapes, plums & pears - all of which guests are welcome to pick and enjoy) surround the house providing privacy. Mature olive and almond trees provide welcome respite from the Provençal sun. Spend days around the large private pool (15 x 5 x 1.8m depth with fence and security immersion alarm), enjoying fabulous views of Bonnieux and the Luberon, or while away the time playing boules in the shade of the plane trees on the purpose built terrain de boules. Spend evenings around the BBQ, watching magnificent sunsets and taking refreshing dips under the stars in the illuminated pool.

Ample outdoor furniture for al fresco dining and sun lounging. (There is one room on ground floor not for clients’ use). Quality white linen and towels, regular pool maintenance and gardening services are all included. Bookings of 14 nights or more will in addition receive a second set of bedding and towels and one complimentary cleaning visit from the housekeeper. The house is particularly suitable for families with babies. A wide range of good quality baby equipment can be borrowed from the owners at no extra charge . Please ask for more details. Pre-arrival shopping service, private chef, additional maid service, personal training, children’s swimming instruction may all be booked in advance and paid for locally. There is also the possibility of tennis lessons at the village courts only a quick 5 minute walk away. Careful supervision of children is essential, as the land is unfenced with drops to fields below.
