This is the place to be, comfortable accommodation that is very well equipped and tastefully furnished. An excellent holiday location. Ringstead is a quiet little village in North West Norfolk, just a mile or two from Hunstanton and Holme-next-the-Sea. The village lies on the Peddars' Way, an old Roman road now used as a long distance footpath that links into the fine coastal paths. Here the sandy beaches of the Wash and the striped cliffs at Hunstanton are broken up by a more indented coastline of tidal creeks and salt marshes at Thornham and Titchwell. All the pleasures of the coast are close at hand yet this quieter location offers a more peaceful holiday base. The small coastal village of West Runton lies between Cromer and Sheringham on the North Norfolk coast. There is golf available in the village and a fine sand and pebble beach with exposed rock pools at low tide which are great fun for children. The village is also backed by National Trust woodland offering an abundance of walking opportunities across to Felbrigg Hall and Sheringham Park and the Norfolk Coast Path, all of which give some super views across the countryside. The Bittern and national rail line are accessible from the village and from here you can access Norwich, Sheringham and Cromer and enjoy the opportunity of leaving the car behind. The village has excellent eating places as well as a cafe, butchers, green grocers, newsagents, a small super market and is also close to The Hillside Shire Horse Sanctuary. Hurlingham House is a handsome Victorian house, just a fifteen minute walk from the sea. It is well set back from the road, overlooking the common, which has a small stream. Aylsham is an attractive, thriving historic market town situated on the River Bure in the heart of the Norfolk countryside, yet only a few miles from the coast at Cromer. Home to the Bure Valley Steam Railway and just a couple of miles from Blickling Hall and Felbrigg, two of the county's well known National Trust properties. Weekly auctions are held in its sale rooms and are definitely worth a visit. Marriott's Way is a super off-road cycle and walking path which follows the old railway line on the edge of the town.
Moon Beam is on one level and offers accommodation which is cosy, attractive, with many characterful and original features in keeping with a property of this age. The coast at Blakeney and Cley is just a short drive and both offer some superb opportunities for bird watching, regardless of the season. A good choice of local beaches, the nearest at Snettisham is only two miles away, with the coastal resorts of North and West Norfolk readily accessible. The area offers good walking and cycling opportunities and if ornithology is a passion then Dersingham boasts its own English Nature Reserve, with Holme - Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Titchwell and Snettisham - RSPB reserves a short distance away. Once an important place of pilgrimage, the ruins of Bromholm Priory are still to be seen in Bacton today. The Priory was built in 1113 AD by William de Glanville and was home to the Cluniacs, the Black Monks who purchased a piece of the True Cross, the Bromholm Roode. Ensuing miracles ensured visits by many thousands of pilgrims including King Henry III. The Priory was mentioned in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, the Domesday Book, and was the subject of a prediction in Mother Shipton's Almanac. Today the coastal village opens its doors to the 21st century pilgrims who visit for their holidays. They enjoy the friendly village atmosphere and the sandy beaches, which are often quiet even in the height of summer.
